Goal #3 – Read to baby before bed

One of my goals for this year in the area of parenting, is reading to my little one each night before bed.

It is easy to get wrapped up in all the things I have to get done, and just forgo reading to her. Besides (I justify to myself) she doesn’t understand yet anyway.

Bonding, but not reading

But that isn’t true. Gracie might not understand the story line, the plot or the character development, but she understands spending quality time with her ma. She understands the fact that I am using words and language and that will help her pick up words in the future. And it is laying the groundwork for us to continue doing this as she gets older.

Check out this article about reading to your baby, if you aren’t convinced!

The book we are reading is AMAZING! I received it from Tyndale House Publishers for free in exchange for reviewing it, and oh my goodness I love this book. I would have posted this review, even if they hadn’t sent it to me. Bible Stories that end with a Hug is so precious. Gracie and I LOVE looking at the pictures.

I love the fact that as daddy and mommy are reading through the Bible together, so is Gracie. Of course, her version is a lot easier to read and understand (there are pictures too, unlike my Bible). My favorite part is the end of each chapter, I have to give Gracie a hug.

If you are looking for a book to read to your little one before they go to bed, I highly recommend this one. It has Bible stories, verses and reminders of God’s love. It is good for all ages!

What about you? Do you read to your little one before bed? What do you read to them?

I think that is great to do. I am no mother but I think that parents that read to their kids are amazing. It’s something that she will cherish if you keep on this path. One day you and her will be reading together. It’s a great habit to start.

    Good luck
