Christ Centered Advent for Preschoolers

I love Christmas, it is really my favorite time of year!

Our family is trying to be very intentional about making sure our children know what the real reason behind Christmas is. We want our children to be more excited about celebrating the birth of Jesus, than waiting for Santa. (If you are curious, see my post on what I want my children to know about Santa)

For each day, we will do a craft and a service project. Our service project is directly tied with our compassion bears (more on that later this week). It is our take on Elf on the Shelf. We will also plan to do a family activity. Often times, these overlap. For example; on the first day, the service project for the kids is helping decorate the tree and the family activity is decorating the tree. Then, in the evening, we will talk about the word of the day and read the Scripture. This is such a special time for us to talk about how the word and the scripture tie in to the overall story of the Gospel and Jesus’ birth.

Keep in mind, this doesn’t mean you have to do everything. If it seems overwhelming, pick a few things to do each day. Or just choose your favorites.

These advent activities for preschoolers is a great way to keep Christ the center of this season. I need to pin this for future reference!
