Christmas/ New Year’s Letter

Dearest friends and family,

We hope you are filled with joy and delight in this precious season. May life slow down enough that you may be filled with wonder anew at the simple message of the Savior coming to earth to save us from our sins. What a precious truth!

Although this year has been filled with change and transition, it has been such a sweet year. We moved to the country in January. The children now have plenty of room to roam and play and be as loud as they want. It has been so fun to watch them learn how to explore nature and play together outside. They are constantly making up games with each other and running around the property. We also got to experience some remodeling as a family. Taking out walls with four little ones roaming around carries quite a few challenges, but they did a whole lot better than expected. We also procured a new vehicle. We realized that when baby number five, we will be out of room and had to get a bigger sized van. It is an upgrade in terms of space, we are now driving around in a 15 passenger! However, it was a downgrade in all the comforts. It was worth it, though, to fit all of our family and the stuff that goes with them.

Gracie turned five this year. We celebrated her birthday with paint and fireworks (benefits of having a July 4th birthday). She has taught herself to write the alphabet, which you will find written all over our house; from the dust on the coffee table to the bathtub with crayons. She is our first student at the Moseley Homeschool. Gracie has the typical firstborn tendencies and loves to help, greatly dislikes getting in trouble and desires anything she does to be done perfectly.

Benjamin is now four and is our little ball of energy. His heart is pure and he loves serving others. Whether he is getting dishes for his siblings at dinner or helping his mama cook at mealtimes, he loves being a helper. He also loves being as loud as he can (he has a designated ‘loud spot’ in the house), Christmas lights and Tigger. He has started to read a little, as well, and enjoys being able to join in similar lessons that his big sister is doing.

Levi is our precocious two year old. He has a heart of compassion. Whenever someone is hurt or sick, he is quick to offer them a hand, a blanket or just a kiss on the head. He and Gracie share a room and therefore have become best buddies. He loves chasing her around as they play games; roll in the grass, jump on the logs and all the other little activities that Gracie invents as they play outside.

Stephen loves being with his siblings. At 16 months old, he finds it hard to keep up with everyone. His legs can only go so fast! However, all his siblings are compassionate to him and try to make sure he is included in their games. We are shocked at how much he is ‘talking’, he communicates with us quite well. His first words were “uh oh”, “apple” and “rooster”. He enjoys watching the chickens roam around the property and hasn’t really learned to stay away from the rooster. (All the other children learned that lesson early on, when they were chased by him) Stephen is our snuggle bug and loves cuddling up to anyone in the family that will let him. If he accidentally hurts someone, then he immediately wants to hug and make it better.

We are expecting baby number 5 in early March (is it too optimistic to hope for February?). We look forward to bringing in a new member of the family and observe the how the children adapt to their new sibling. We have learned the incredible truth that love doesn’t divide; it multiplies! We are so grateful for these blessings and eagerly look forward to seeing what the new year brings. We think there might be some remodeling, maybe some goats, fresh eggs every day and a few surprises along the way.

If you haven’t already, please send us an email and let us know what you have been up to and how we can be praying for you and your family.

Love to you, may your 2018 be full of new experiences, growth and an increased understanding of the love of our Savior,

Greg, Becky, Gracie (5), Benjamin (4), Levi (2), Stephen (1) and baby #5 (In March) Moseley
